Folding Multiplex
Hammond Typewriter Co.
James Bartlett Hammond
Original Price: $100-115
1921 - 1926
S/N: F2 36315
This model was intended to be easier to carry due to the ability to fold the keyboard for a smaller carrying case, and was made of aluminum, a lighter weight metal. An interesting point is that instead of a letter moving to hit the paper, a hammer hit the paper, which hit the letter on the type shuttle. The folding multiplex was the last model to bear the name of it's inventor, Hammond.
