Hermes

The Hermes 3000 is a well liked machine known for its durability and smooth typing. While favored among typists, I have always wondered what made its Swiss manufacturer, Paillard, choose the "minty" green color that does not seem to match with anything short of bubble gum pink for those who like a throw-back candy shop decor. This typewriter was famously used by Larry McMurtry, who co-wrote the screenplay for Brokeback Mountain. The advertisement to your left is from page 21 of The Escanaba Daily Press, published June 29, 1963.
