Garvin Machine Company
Byron A. Brooks
Original Price: $15-25
1890-1900s
S/N: 2210
1890 was the earliest newspaper mention of the People's Typewriter that I could find via a Newspapers.com search. Given a June 6, 1890 ad stating that the People's Typewriter was "a new invention" (The Norfold Landmark, page 1), 1890 seems to be the initial year of manufacture. This machine was improved upon and later sold under the brand name of "Champion". The Champion was sold at least as early as 1896 in the Sear's Spring catalog of that year.
