Wellington Parker Kidder, modified by George Gould Going

Original Price: $64.50-105

1936

S/N: H47318

An extension of the Wellington Parker Kidder family of typewriters, this noiseless has keys shaped like the front strike thrust action Adler typewriters, but has an upstroke action. If you press the keys lightly, you can note that the key does not actually strike the platen. This is the secret behind the noiseless mechanism. It is by inertia that the strike connects with the platen; hence the need to have quick and solid finger strikes upon the keys. The ad to your left is taken from the Sears Catalog in winter of the same year this machine was manufactured, 1936 (page 723).
