The Sholes brand dates back to the first widely commercialized typewriter, the Sholes & Glidden, invented by Christopher Latham Sholes. That typewriter is the beginning of what became the modern typewriter design, and is often attributed to as having changed the writing world forever. It had the first QWERTY keyboard, which designed the vast majority of keyboards of the western (and somewhat of the eastern) world today. In this collection, you will find the Sholes Visible, the last of the Sholes brand actually invented by Christopher Latham Sholes; however, there were other Sholes typewriters that came out the Sholes Visible that were invented or re-designed by his sons after his death.
