The brand, "Victor" has been attributed to at least two very different kinds of typewriters. The earlier model was an index machine which seems to have been manufactured by The Franklin company under Tilton Manufacturing Company before the Franklin company went bankrupt. The other model was the Victor Standard Typewriter, which was born out of the bankruptcy of the Franklin Typewriter Company due to the competitive pressures in the typewriter industry at the time. When the new company, Victor Typewriter, took over, the name of that early index was used for the standard model typewriters.
